T.33 - GMA T.33
We’ve had a little while to finally digest and pour over the latest from the wizards at @gordonmurrayautomotive. This is the T.33 and yep, it’s very f*cking good so far.
The T.33 is the baby brother of the exception T.50, which is hailed as the last analogue supercar. So what is the T.33? This car isn’t to push the envelope in terms of engineering (notice - no rear fan) but to create something aesthetically beautiful and timeless with an emphasis on driver focused, emotive driving alongside its devilish good looks.
Internally, the T.33 is known as the “Motor Car”. There’s less aerodynamic wondery than the T.50, so it’s all based around just what that engine can do.
And my word what an engine it is. It’s a brother to the engine in the T.50 but not as… highly strung. It’s still a 3.9 litre Cosworth developed V12. But, instead of 650BHP it’s been toned down to 607. The maniacal revs of the T.50 have also been calmed, don’t get us wrong 11,100RPM is still lots of things moving very very quickly but it’s down from 12,000.
The body and chassis are indeed all carbon as you’d expect. But, T.33 is missing one reference from the Gordon Murray Greatest Hits Songbook. T.33 is a conventional 2 seater. You can have LHD or RHD if you want, which is always nice. There’s some very clever aerodynamics going on. T.33 is actually 30% more aerodynamically efficient than the supercar norm. All because of a piece called a Boundary Layer Removal Duct. An inlet in the front of the car, channels air rearward under the floor. Then the rear diffuser is activated by that suction being made. Basically, it does away with all the normal ducts, wings, skirts and general aero stuff.
There’s gonna be a few of them. 100 of them and apparently there’s still spaces. Just go and give the £1.4m and you get one.
